I played a round of 2 awhile back. I was on dire straits for a good 3 years and just barely got enough cash to win by October of year 4.

Build a single loop roller coaster propulsion launch track that returns backwards. 15 second ride. $5 dollars. Never lost a challenge involving money.

You can do this strategy and still charge everyone an arm and a leg for everything. Also every few months delete one section of track and re add it so people think it's a new ride and don't get bored.

I remember these games fondly! I always remember trying to play the game as realistically as possible. I got really sad when one of my favorite roller coasters spontaniously malfunctioned, I saw the train car launch off the track and then crash to the ground in a fireball. No one ever wanted to ride that ride again, even though I made it safer afterwards  I always really enjoyed making convoluted and entertaining roller coasters.
